Gif and jpg
There are two main picture formats you see on the internet, gif and jpg. The initials stand for technical stuff that's not important, but there are some things about these formats that you should know. First of all, jpg (frequently spelled jpeg and pronounced jay-peg) files are usually photographs, or images that have a lot of colors. Gif files (always spelled and pronounced gif, like gift without the "t") are often cartoon-like and use fewer colors. ALL animated pictures are gifs.
Why do I tell you this? Because someday you'll want to put your own pictures online. You may be faced with the choice to save the picture in a number of formats. Please use one of these web-friendly formats. Again, photographs are usually jpegs.
By the way, using an animated gif is just like using a regular gif. Please don't put too many on a page though. It's not pretty.
